OUR LAST DAY!

Miss Carey and Mrs Clarkson

Hello everyone. It’s our last morning at the Lochgoilhead Centre and we’re all sad to be leaving. We had a great time at the disco last night and we were all VERY loud and excited when we got back to our lodges! Miss Carey, Mrs Clarkson and Miss McLennan had to keep us entertained for a while before we were ready for  bed!

Uno

Mrs Clarkson, Miss Carey and Miss McLennan had a terrible time getting everyone out of their beds this morning and it was even more difficult getting everyone to pack their cases!

       Table 1      Breakfast 2

After out final cooked breakfast we got to choose our final activities of the week. Some of us decided to go hillwalking, some went on the Jacob’s Ladder again and some of us went orienteering. We could have chosen kayaking or raft building but didn’t because it was so cold and rainy this morning.

Tidying the rooms

There’s lots to do before we leave today at one o’clock. As well as packing our clothes we have to strip and remake the beds. We also have to sweep and hoover the floors and mop the kitchen. Once we finish our morning activities we’ll have lunch and then it’ll be time to get on the bus and come home. We should be back at the school at half past two and we’re looking forward to seeing you all again.

Thank you so much to everyone who sent us a comment - it’s been great hearing from you all. Miss Carey really liked hearing from her class and says thank you to all the primary sixes for helping the younger children to send a message. The sevens also loved hearing from Mrs Cullen, Mariam and Lisa - thank you! Mrs Barr has sent two messages this week and we all laughed out loud at them!

Lodge 2

We’ve had a great time and although we’re looking forward to seeing our families we’re sad to leave as it’s been so much fun.

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the instructors who have made sure we enjoyed every activity - they have been great fun and we will miss them all. Primary six - you will have an AMAZING time next year!!!

DAY 4 IN LOCHGOILHEAD -

THE WETTEST YET!

It's pouring!

Hello everyone and THANK YOU so much for all of your posts and comments - we are loving hearing them. It was great to hear from primary 1/2, 2 and 6 today as well as Mrs Cullen and all of the mums, dads and friends of ours. We hope that Primary 2s assembly went really well and are looking forward to seeing it when we get back. Mrs Clarkson, Miss Carey and Miss McLennan are all shattered but are still smiling - they’re eating a lot of chocolate biscuits!

We’ve had another busy day even though it’s been raining since last night. The ground is really wet and muddy and we’re all running our of clothes to wear! This morning we were kayaking, abseiling and going on the boat trip.

Getting ready to abseil   The rock!
The abseiling was great fun, we went up to Scout Crag wearing our harnesses and helmets - we had to take turns of carrying two really heavy rucksacks. Andrew and Miss McLennan argued the whole way about who was the strongest! It was a long walk but we made it eventualy. Mutley told us the best way to abseil down as well as the best route to climb up. The weather was too bad for climbing though so we just did the abseil.

When we got to the top Mutley and Lindsay tied up all the ropes and showed us how safe it was. Leanne and Ryan were really brave and went down first.
Going down   Over the top
Everyone who was waiting for a shot was really cold but our instructors were prepared and had brought hot juice, chocolate and a special orange tent called a bivi shelter.  The girls sat inside it first and then the boys went in.
Miss McLennan passed sweets to us and we shared the juice!

This afternoon was so wet and rainy that the kayaking and raft building was changed to orienteering so we’ve spent our time running round the centre looking for flags.

Grey and cold

We’ve got the disco tonight and we’re really excited about it. Everyone has managed to keep their clothes clean for the disco which is amazing. We’ve got lots and lots of dirty washing to bring home to Glasgow!
That’s all for now.
We’ll see you all tomorrow afternoon at about half past two.

Good Morning Everyone!

The Jocob's Ladder

It’s a calm but cloudy morning in Lochgoilhead. Everyone was really tired this morning after an eventful day yesterday.

Mrs Clarkson had to get Ainsley to get rid of two enormous spiders that were in her bedroom - well done Ainsley!

Miss Carey had a very trying day - after falling UP the steps to her lodge she then managed to lock herself in her room for two and a half hours!! She was eventually rescued by Emma who caught the keys when she passed them out of her bedroom window.

Who knows what today will bring…

P.S. Thanks for all of your comments and posts. We really appreciate them!

Later Today…

Today’s been fantastic. We went on the Jacob’s Ladder, sailing on the Drascombe Longboats and shot some arrows at archery.

The sailing was brilliant although it was really cold out on the loch. We got to the boats by riding on a speed boat called the rib.

We had to unfurl the sails, sheet in the ropes, steer the tiller and tack and jibe while the instructors sat back and enjoyed the ride! Everyone had a shot of each part and we learned lots.
Everyone was looking forward to the Jacob’s Ladder although it looked scary. Miss McLennan had made it to the seventh log in March and was going to try to go to the very top this time.
You have to wear a crash helmet and a proper harness before you can go up.

         The Top!
One group have to hold the safety ropes while thre people climb at a time. The logs are really far apart - some as much as 5 feet! The team holding the safety ropes tighten them so the climbers can lean back and try to get the the next log. Lots of people made it to the top including Aaron, Beth and Ross. Miss McLennan only made it to log seven - again!

Two of the boys lost at archery and so had to wear their pants on their heads all through lunch!

We had wraps and soup for lunch, they were gorgeous. Every meal time we set the tables and then clear away afterwards. We set the instructors table too.

Well, that’s all for now. We’ve got the World Famous Lochgoilhead Talent Show tonight which we’re all really excited about. All of the instructors put on a show for us and it’s meant to be really funny. Miss McLennan saw it in March but she won’t say what it’s like. We’ll post some photographs in the morning.
Please post us a comment - Miss McLennan has been reading them out at meal times and we love hearing from you!

HELLO AGAIN!!!!! It’s day 2 at Lochgoilhead!
On the boat

We all found it hard to get up this morning as we had such a busy day yesterday. We got to bed at about 11pm and woke up at 8am. Some of us had stayed up a bit later to play Jenga and Uno with the teachers. Breakfast was brilliant - sausages, bacon, beans, potator scones and toast as well as cereal!

Kayaking 2Landing the boatThe Speed Boat

Today has been a great day with people building rafts, kayaking, abseiling and rock climbing. One group also went on a boat trip and saw seals. Duncan though he saw a submarine but it was only a twig! Everyone who was building rafts and kayaking got completely soaked including Mrs Clarkson. Miss Carey did the abseiling and loved it. Miss McLennan got a shot of the speed boat.

We had salad baguettes and carrot soup for lunch before starting afternoon activities - kayaking, boat trip/ramble, abseiling/climbing and raft building. Tonight we’re doing a scavenger hunt around the centre. We’re going to say up a bit later and watch a video before bed.

OUR FIRST DAY!!!
Mrs C and the boys

We arrived today at about 11.30am. We’re in lodges 1, 2 and 3 so are close together. Lunch was hotdogs and pizza followed by bananas. After unpacking we all took part in team building activities. These were great fun as you can see from the photographs.

The ropesThe ropes 2Jackets

We had spaghetti bolognaise for dinner with chocolate doughnuts and cream for pudding. After dinner we went to the shop and the phones. Some people called home but we didn’t have much time before our evening activity. We went on a night walk in the pitch dark - it was really exciting and we got filthy, muddy and wet!

Miss McLennan, Mrs Clarkson and Miss Carey say we’re going to bed at half past nine… we’ll see!!
